This time of year also kicks off the entertaining season: dinner parties, potlucks and more are slowly filling up your schedule at this point, so here are a few decor tips to keep you on your toes, from your first guest until the last one out the door.
Start with the Porch
The best way to show neighbors and visitors that you’re in the fall spirit is by decorating your front porch. Just be mindful that if you plan on using any live plants or pumpkins, make sure they’re watered properly and swapped out regularly to avoid wilted and browned vegetation.
Invest in Scents
Those novelty, cinnamon-scented brooms that tend to pop up during the holidays are nice, but even one can be a tad bit overpowering in the scent department. Instead, use smaller votive candles places near high-traffic areas around your home to evoke the holiday spirit without having to resort to a gas mask.
Start Baking
If you feel like lit candles around the home may become too much of a hazard, especially if you have little ones or pets, you can start making breads, cookies and other baked goods regularly. Not only will it introduce new, delicious smells into your home, your family, friends and coworkers will definitely appreciate the free food.
Get to the Center
Festive table settings and centerpieces are also a great way to bring in the autumn holiday season without running the risk of going overboard. Small, painted pumpkins and local foliage are great ways to spruce up the table, plus you can get the kids in on the arts and crafts action.
At this point, you should be nice and settled into your new home, courtesy of Crescent Homes. So kick back, relax and really enjoy all of the perks that come with owning a new home, including the celebrations.
