Sales Agent with Crescent Homes for nearly two years, Gini Rice has worked in the new construction home building industry in Charleston for 7 years. Born in Maryland with a childhood primarily in Charlotte, North Carolina, Gini moved to Charleston in 2000 to attend College of Charleston with a goal: helping others.

After earning a BA in Non-Profit Work with Arts Administration, she had difficulty finding non-profit work in Charleston that would also support her. At the same time, she began designing her own semi-custom new construction home. She loved the process and that’s when it hit her: home ownership is the American Dream. If she could assist people in achieving this lofty goal, she could fulfill her mission to help others while doing something she truly loved.

“To be a part of [the home buying process] was just as important as any grant or organization I could create. I wanted to be a part of that,” Gini explains.

So great was her desire to help people in the new home buying and building process that she entered the real estate industry during the recession. Family and friends likely thought she had lost her mind, but the truth was that Gini had found her true calling.

Beyond acting as a real estate agent, working with Crescent Homes means that Gini is an expert on every floorplan and community. The first task with any new client is to find out why he or she is building a new home in Charleston. Beyond a price range or location, understanding the personal motivation behind such a large decision helps Gini determine the best direction to move in. Whether the individual is a first time home buyer, expanding a family or relocating a loved one, the reasoning behind any move is a key factor in choosing a community, location and home floorplan. She must understand and translate the needs of her clients in order to guide them to the perfect Charleston neighborhood, the perfect lot, the perfect home plan. And then the fun really begins!

Gini’s role in the new construction home building company puts her in touch with dozens of people daily. She supports the builders, works directly with new customers and maintains an up-to-date MLS presence. As Sales Agent with the FLEX Program, she works with potential home buyers who wish to design and build a Crescent Homes new construction house outside of the one of the Crescent Homes communities. These individuals either own a plot of land already or need help finding one, at which point Gini gets to work curating a list of available properties in Charleston that meet any list of criteria. Once a lot is approved, Crescent Homes can purchase the property on the homeowner’s behalf and wrap the cost into the base price for the new home.

“The best part is still the whole reason I got into it! When a client closes and is so happy with their home and I know that I was a part of that, I helped them to get to that place where they are going to make memories, that’s the best part.”
